QUALIFICATIONS CERTIFICATE

The Qualifications Certificate (QC) is issued by TASC. It is available to all Tasmanians who have gained one or more post-compulsory qualifications accredited or recognised by TASC.

The Qualifications Certificate shows all qualifications with awards in TASC accredited senior secondary courses, qualifications (and awards if applicable) in TASC recognised courses, and Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and units of competency that a learner has achieved.

Across a lifetime of learning the Qualifications Certificate can be updated to include higher education qualifications (such as a Bachelor of Education), higher level and other VET qualifications (such as HLT61007 Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine), and qualifications from interstate or overseas (provided that they are recognised by TASC).

The Qualifications Certificate can be used as a formal record of a person's post-compulsory life long education and training.

The Qualifications Certificate will be issued, in the first instance, each December to year 12/13 students finishing their senior secondary education and training.

A person who has not previously been issued with a Qualifications Certificate can ask TASC to issue one. They may be required to show evidence of having gained a qualification/s. Similarly an updated Qualifications Certificate can be issued when people achieve another qualification/s. They may be required to show evidence of having gained the qualification/s and pay a fee.

What does the Qualifications Certificate look like?

Significant qualifications (determined by units of credit exceeding 50) will appear on the front page of the Qualifications Certificate. Usually these will include qualifications like the Tasmanian Certificate of Education (120 units of credit); Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (97 credits); and the International Baccalaureate (120 units of credit). An example of the first page of a Qualifications Certificate is given in the top right of this web-page.

Additional qualifications and results will be included on second and subsequent pages. As shown in the example below, these are grouped according to degree of complexity and kind.

A Certificate Verification Number on the first page of the certificate is linked to a web-address which can be used to verify that the results stated are correct and accurate.

More detailed information about the Qualifications Certificate is included on the reverse side to the actual certificate document.

The Qualifications Certificate is issued free of charge for first issue. When an updated certificate is requested - when, for example, a new qualification has been gained - a processing charge will apply.

An updated or replacement Qualifications Certificate can be issued on request to the TASC at any time. You may be required to show evidence of having gained a qualification/s and pay a fee.
