Registration Information

A registered training organisation (RTO) is an organisation or individual registered with a State or Territory registering body in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). RTOs are required to comply with the Essential Standards for Registration 2007.

The AQTF ensures that training organisations across the country meet the same standards for registration and accept qualifications issued by each other. It also ensures that national training packages are the main source of qualifications issued; and when courses are accredited, accreditation is done in a manner that ensures qualifications and statements of attainment will be accepted in all States and Territories.

To be registered as an RTO an organisation or individual needs to demonstrate evidence of compliance with the Essential Standards for Registration 2007. The RTO will be registered with a defined scope of qualifications which it can offer.

The key objectives of the AQTF are to provide the basis for a nationally consistent, high quality vocational education and training system.
