Studies in Drama Levels 2-4 is divided into two Strands: Drama; and Production.

Students undertaking the Drama Strand will explore and experiment with the elements of drama (such as voice, movement, improvisation and role play). Personal confidence, skills, knowledge and understanding are developed through a range of drama tasks. Students are involved in performance, knowledge work and major productions. Live theatre performances are attended and critically appraised.

Students undertaking the Production Strand will develop skills and techniques in technical aspects of theatre production. Skills in a range of aspects of theatre production will be applied in practical situations. Students will work individually and as members of a group and develop an understanding of the function - in a theatrical production - of technical aspects such as lighting, sound, design, set construction, costume and make-up. Overall production responsibilities are introduced such as stage management, publicity, and front of house. Special emphasis is placed on issues such as theatre etiquette and workplace safety issues.

Drama Senior Secondary 5C is designed to provide students with practical and creative opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, understanding and experience at the highest level of complexity offered by TCE courses in the field of drama. Through a practical and theoretical study of Drama, students are exposed to a wide range of theatrical experiences and stagecraft.
