Dance Choreography and Performance (DNC315110) has a complexity level of TQA 3 and a size value of 15 [contributes to the calculation of Australian Tertiary Admission Ranks (ATAR)]. This course is designed to provide students with practical and creative opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, understanding and experience in dance choreography, performance and appreciation at the highest level of complexity offered by TCE courses. Through studying this course, students will develop personal skills and knowledge through practical and theoretical activities and specific projects in choreography (dance-making), performance (including the principles of technique applied to movement and performance skills) and dance appreciation. The physical training and preparation of the body (dance technique) informs all other components of the course, and there is an inter-relatedness between technique, composing, performing, appreciating and communicating ideas which contributes to students' understanding of dance as an art form. Students are required to work both individually and in groups as well as to take on a leadership role when undertaking choreographic work. In dance the body is the instrument for non-verbal communication. Through dance movement students develop skills in communication where they express moods, feelings, ideas and emotions.
The accreditation period for this course is from 1 Jan 2010 until 31 Dec 2014.

Providers are required to document effective procedures for between-class within-provider comparability of internal assessment, including a procedure for students to seek review of their assessment decisions. The external assessment structure for this Level 3 course is as follows: * A practical performance that assesses criteria 6, 7 and 8. * An folio that assesses criteria 1 and 2.
