Legal Studies is the study of the aims, functions and nature of legal and political structures and processes and the delivery of justice in Australia. Students will develop an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of citizens in Australia's legal and political systems. It involves objective, creative and wide-ranging enquiry into the legal and political system and its dynamic operation in society. It requires students to analyse and evaluate both the operation of those systems and proposals for their improvement.
This study is to be undertaken against the back drop of contemporary and topical legal issues in order to enable students to apply their understanding to their own local, national and international environments and become informed and engaged citizens.
