Chinese (CHN315109) has a complexity level of TQA 3 and a size value of 15 (150 hours design time).
The course aims to develop the student's ability to communicate in Chinese. At the completion of CHN315109 students will be able to communicate with a Native speaker of Chinese.
This course covers three major themes: the individual, Chinese-speaking communities, and the connections between those communities and aspects of the changing world.
Learning a language enables students to develop generic transferable skills and capabilities and a range of strategies necessary for life-long learning. Languages enable students to examine the construction of culture, to value their personal identity through their understanding of, and sensitivity towards, others and to engage successfully with different communities and cultures.
Students who have received full time education in this language for one or more years MUST only be assessed in Chinese (background speaker) CN813. Teachers and students should contact the TQA to obtain details regarding CN813.

CHN315109 Processes - the TQA gives course providers feedback about any systematic differences in the relationship of their internal and external assessments and, where appropriate, seeks further evidence through audit and requires corrective action in the future.

- class records of assessment
- examples of student work that demonstrate the use of the marking guide
